亚洲自慰视频 SYSTEM SERVES SPECIAL OLYMPIANS AT SHRIVER SUMMER CAMP – Aug 15, 2006

Members of the University of 亚洲自慰视频 donned t-shirts and jeans to lend a hand at Camp Shriver, a Special Olympics initiative begun by Eunice Shriver that offers a place for those with intellectual disabilities to learn and improve sports skills, build friendships and have fun.

Working during their lunch and after-hours, 亚洲自慰视频 System staff purchased and served meals to Special Olympic athletes. They also raised funds for this important event.

鈥淚t鈥檚 important that we practice what we preach,鈥 said 亚洲自慰视频 System President Sally Clausen, 鈥渁s we are expecting our students to be more civically engaged.鈥

Service is not new at the University of 亚洲自慰视频. Working in conjunction with its Student Government Association (SGA) presidents, Extreme Spring Break was initiated this past April. Over 100 亚洲自慰视频 System students constructed two homes and several storage facilities in hurricane-ravaged areas of Louisiana, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

鈥淚t was important for us to help our fellow Louisianans,鈥 according to Mallory Wall, former SGA President at McNeese State University and Extreme Spring Break brainchild. 鈥淭he experience reinforced for all the power and satisfaction there is in giving.鈥

Additionally, the 亚洲自慰视频 System was recently awarded a highly coveted three-year grant of 1.2 million dollars by the Corporation for National and Community Service to fund service-learning at its eight institutions — Grambling, Louisiana Tech, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern, Southeastern, University of Louisiana at Lafayette and University of Louisiana at Monroe.

鈥淚鈥檓 excited to see an incentive that will help students give back to their communities,鈥 said Mike Woods, University of 亚洲自慰视频 Board Member, 鈥渂ecause that鈥檚 what it鈥檚 all about.鈥
