BATON ROUGE, La. – The Executive Committee of the Board of Supervisors of the University of ������ο��Ƶ will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 to consider the budget reduction plans of its eight universities.

The meeting will be held in room 1-141, “The Colorado Room” of the , 1201 North Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge. The meeting is open to the public.

The committee will be provided overviews for trimming millions of dollars from universities’ 2008-09 operating budgets. The public higher education community was notified Friday of the need to cut $109 million from its operating budgets for the current fiscal year, which will end in July. The ������ο��Ƶ System’s share of the reduction comes to $33.4 million.

The committee also will consider a resolution to authorize campus presidents to initiate and implement plans related to:

• Personnel actions
• Reduction and/or elimination of student programs and services
• Reduction and/or elimination of faculty/staff programs and services
• Reduction and/or elimination of community programs and services
• Revenue enhancement strategies
